Windswept Islands

Windswept Islands by Marc Block © 2011 Glasspool Music

It’s drizzly and dusk now in England
I can see you’ve got sunshine again today
Just a few days ago I was there with you
Now I’m back home in the cold and the grey

I wish I was still on your windswept islands
Of white grass and wide open sky
Stone runs on the hillsides
And over our heads the wild geese fly

How well I remember the light there
The hues in the water unreal to the eye
A napkin of cloud drapes over a mountain
And over our heads the wild geese fly

It’s hard to get down to the day job
When my thoughts are in places we’ve loved, you and I
Where adventures and joy are unbounded it seems
And over our heads the wild geese fly

In some way Fox Bay feels like home to me
The view from the crest at Roy Cove made me cry
Mount Rosalie house is a scene in a story
And over our heads the wild geese fly

A thousand picture-book perfect streams
Trickle through valleys of days gone by
On the road the dust rises behind us
And over our heads the wild geese fly
